What Olympic Events to Watch Today, Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024

As sad as it is to say goodbye to the 2024 Summer Olympics, there are still a number of high-profile sports set to wrap up competition on Sunday. The action kicks off at 7 a.m. ET on Peacock, NBC, and Telemundo as the United States takes on Italy in the gold medal match of the women’s volleyball tournament. Team USA is hoping to defend its gold medal from Tokyo and will be in for some stiff competition. If you miss the match live, you can watch the replay on the USA Network at 1:30 p.m.

The final event of the games will be the women’s basketball gold medal game as Frane looks to pull off a storybook upset against Team USA. History is on the line in this game as the Americans are looking to become the first team in any sport to ever win eight consecutive gold medals. The host nation will be looking to make some history of their own by denying Team USA gold medal No. 8. The game will air on Peacock, NBC, and Telemundo beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET with USA Network airing the replay at 3:30 p.m. The bronze medal game between Belgium and Australia will be on Peacock at 5:30 a.m. ET and on USA at 5:45 a.m. ET.

Best Streaming Service to Watch the 2024 Paris Olympics

When it comes to who is the lord of the Olympic rings, there is one streamer to rule them all: Peacock. For the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, NBCUniversal is making history by making every single event available to stream live. From the first day of competition on Wednesday, July 24 through the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday, Aug. 11, NBCU’s flagship streaming service will be the home for every event, game, match, and competition of the Paris Olympics.

Due to the six-hour time difference between Paris and the Eastern Time Zone, many events will be air on tape delays on broadcast and cable channels in the United States. Therefore, if there is an event that you absolutely must watch live, Peacock is the way to go. If you are a fan of a non-marquee event, Peacock is the best (and sometimes only) way to stream it.

Not only will Peacock have all of the live Olympic coverage you could hope for, but it will also have numerous other ways to watch, stream, and catch up with all of the action. Check out all of the unique streaming coverage that Peacock will have for the Games further down in this article.

Peacock

Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

…

Peacock also includes news, entertainment, sports, late-night, and reality from various NBCU properties, including NBC, Bravo, and E!. Additionally, Peacock has exclusives like “Below Deck: Down Under.” They also include live and on-demand access to Hallmark channels.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows, including “Parks and Recreation” and the entire Dick Wolf library, which includes “Law & Order” and “Chicago Fire.”

Peacock features weekly Sunday night NFL games during the regular season, available on the Premium and Premium Plus plans.

Peacock again raised prices on August 18, 2026, with the cost of plans increasing to $8.99 for the Select, $12.99 for Premium, and $19.99 for Premium Plus.

The service also features blockbusters and critically acclaimed films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, as well as content acquired from Hollywood’s biggest studios.

Best Live TV Streaming Service to Watch 2024 Summer Olympics

For two and a half weeks, the greatest athletes in the world will be assembled in France to compete for the most prized honors in all of sports. While the way that we watch these athletes go for the gold has changed rapidly in recent years, that means that for die-hard sports fans and casual viewers alike, there are more options than ever to stream Olympic action if you have cut the cord and gotten rid of a traditional cable or satellite service.

As noted above, there are seven NBCU channels that will be broadcasting Olympic events this year. Five of those will be English-language channels: NBC, USA Network, Golf Channel, E!, and CNBC. For details on the Spanish networks covering the Olympics, skip to the section below.

What streamers have the English language channels covering the Olympics?

Five of the largest live TV streaming services carry all of the channels that will be broadcasting Olympic action. However, only three of them have all five channels in their base package; those are Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and YouTube TV. In my opinion, if you are looking for a live TV streamer to watch the Olympics, the decision comes down to either Hulu or YouTube, as they are significantly cheaper per month than Fubo.

Keep in mind, that even though these five streamers all carry every channel that will be broadcasting Olympic coverage, none of them will have all of the events, games, matches, and competitions available to stream. In order to have the opportunity to watch each and every Olympic event, you will need to subscribe to Peacock.

Back to the live streamers. YouTube TV is $4 cheaper, so if price is your sole concern, then it’s probably best to go with that. However, if you are looking for the best total for your streaming buck, then The Streamable’s expert recommendation is to go with Hulu + Live TV.

While both services carry all of the channels that will be broadcasting Olympic coverage from Paris, Hulu has 10 more total channels than YouTube TV and comes with an added benefit that no other live streamer, in my opinion, can compete with. Because Hulu + Live TV is owned by Disney, as part of your subscription, you get the full Disney Bundle as well. That means that in addition to the Hulu + Live TV broadcast and cable channels, you also get access to the on-demand libraries of Hulu and Disney+, as well as all of the live and on-demand sports content from ESPN+.

Essentially, for $4 per month more than YouTube TV, you get the combined streaming power of Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu, which individually would cost $26.97. That is why Hulu + Live TV is The Streamable’s expert recommendation for the best live TV streaming service to watch the Paris Olympics.

Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.

…

Where it really separates itself is value. Your subscription doesn’t just cover live TV — it also includes full access to Hulu’s on-demand library, plus bundled subscriptions to Disney+ and ESPN Select content at no extra cost. That means you’re getting everything from next-day network TV episodes and Hulu Originals, to Marvel, Star Wars, and live sports content all in one place without juggling multiple bills.

For sports fans, Hulu + Live TV also includes regional sports networks (RSNs) in select areas, a feature many competing services have dropped. That can be a big deal if you’re trying to follow local MLB, NBA, or NHL teams.

The DVR experience is another strong point. Subscribers get unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to fast-forward through commercials on recorded content — a feature that used to cost extra but is now standard. It’s designed to feel closer to a traditional cable DVR, just without the box.

If you want to customize further, several add-ons are available. You can upgrade to premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, add an unlimited streams option for households with lots of viewers, or go ad-free on Hulu’s on-demand content (live TV will still include ads).

Overall, Hulu + Live TV is less about being the cheapest option and more about being the most comprehensive. It’s built for people who want live TV, on-demand shows, and bundled streaming services all under one roof — without having to piece everything together themselves.

What Other Olympic Coverage Is Available on Streaming?

Embracing the identity of being the Olympics’ streaming home, Peacock will flank its complete event coverage with a wide range of shows and highlights to give you insight to — and caught up on — the games.

  • “Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson”: Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson will be bringing their oversized personalities and playful banter to the update desk as the comedians recap all of the biggest moments from the 2024 Summer Games. You can expect unique insights and more than a full belly laughs.

  • “Watch with Alex Cooper”: The host of the breakout podcast “Call Her Daddy,” Alex Cooper will be on-site in Paris to host a series of live, interactive watch parties on Peacock. Similar to alternative broadcasts for major sporting events, “Watch with Alex Cooper” will feature Cooper and friends commenting live on the biggest moments of the Olympics in real-time. Not only will they be sharing their own insights, but there will be special guests, and they will be answering questions from fans on social as well.

  • Gold Zone: If you love NFL RedZone, then this is the show for you. This whip-around show will debut on Saturday, July 27 at 7 a.m. ET and will air until 5 p.m. ET every day until Saturday, Aug. 10. Four hosts — Scott Hanson, Andrew Siciliano, Matt Iseman, and Jac Collinsworth — will seamlessly guide you through all of the most compelling action happening at any given time. With up to 40 events potentially happening simultaneously, Gold Zone will give viewers the best action happening at any moment. This will be the most comprehensive and all-encompassing coverage that the Olympic Games has ever seen.

  • Highlights and full on-demand recaps: In addition to all of the unique programming, Peacock will be your one-stop shop for all of your highlight and recap needs. NBCU will have clips of the best moments of every sport and event for you to watch around the clock. You will also be able to find full, on-demand replays of every event on the streamer as well. So, if you miss any event at the Olympics, Peacock will have multiple ways for you to catch up on whatever you missed.

What Summer Olympic Events Can You Watch in 4K?

The Olympics are one of the most viewed events on the planet. The Games are special occasions that fans and non-fans alike look forward to for years. So, of course, you want to be able to watch all of your favorite events in the best possible picture quality available.

Fortunately, USA Network’s coverage will be in ultra-high resolution 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos audio around the clock, beginning at 8 a.m. ET on Wednesday, July 24, and running through the final day of the Games at 5:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 11.

True to its name, throughout the Olympics, the USA Network will focus much of its coverage on games, matches, and events featuring Team USA, as well as on team sports including basketball, soccer, beach volleyball, volleyball, and water polo. Additionally, events like 3x3 basketball, cycling, swimming, and track & field will also be featured heavily in the channels’ 4K coverage. In total, there will be more than 400 hours of 4K programming on USA Network, the most from NBCU in any Olympic Games in history.

Cable and satellite distributors that will be providing 4K coverage of the Olympics on USA Network include Altice, Comcast, Cox, DIRECTV (including DIRECTV STREAM), Dish, Fubo, Verizon, YouTube TV, and other cable companies around the country. In order to experience USA’s UHD coverage, viewers will need to have a TV and either a set-top or streaming device that supports 4K broadcasts.
