How to watch New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Brewers 2025 Opening Day Game

Check out all of the ways to stream your favorite baseball team’s Opening Day action.

With a background in sports and entertainment reporting, he’s covered everything from Broadway to college football. He cut the cord in 2014 and has a sharp eye for streaming trends and a soft spot for Hallmark movies.

The 2025 Major League Baseball season is set to begin in earnest on Thursday, March 27, when the vast majority of teams will take to the diamond for the first time this year. One of the marquee games on the day will see last year’s American League champion New York Yankees face off against one of this year’s National League favorites, the Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch is slated for 3:05 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN. I recommend watching the game on Hulu + Live TV.

Everything you need to know to stream St. Louis vs. Minnesota:

Why do we recommend Hulu + Live TV to watch the game?

Hulu + Live TV is a wonderful option for streaming this Opening Day matchup for a number of reasons. Primarily is the fact that not only does it offer a three-day free trial, but it is also the cheapest live TV streaming service of its kind on the market at $83 per month. If you want the full cable-like channel lineup via streaming, Hulu is arguably the best option.

However, what truly sets the streamer apart from the competition is the fact that it also includes the complete Disney Bundle at no extra cost. That means that in addition to all of the channels you get on the live version of the streamer, you will also get the entire Hulu on-demand library, along with all of Disney+ and ESPN+ for free.

Hulu Live TV

Hulu Live TV is a live TV streaming service with more than 70 channels for $89.99 per month. Hulu + Live TV base plan includes local channels 32 of the top 35 cable channels, and regional sports networks (RSNs). Subscribers get free access to Disney+ and ESPN Select at no extra charge.

…

Where it really separates itself is value. Your subscription doesn’t just cover live TV — it also includes full access to Hulu’s on-demand library, plus bundled subscriptions to Disney+ and ESPN Select content at no extra cost. That means you’re getting everything from next-day network TV episodes and Hulu Originals, to Marvel, Star Wars, and live sports content all in one place without juggling multiple bills.

For sports fans, Hulu + Live TV also includes regional sports networks (RSNs) in select areas, a feature many competing services have dropped. That can be a big deal if you’re trying to follow local MLB, NBA, or NHL teams.

The DVR experience is another strong point. Subscribers get unlimited cloud DVR storage and the ability to fast-forward through commercials on recorded content — a feature that used to cost extra but is now standard. It’s designed to feel closer to a traditional cable DVR, just without the box.

If you want to customize further, several add-ons are available. You can upgrade to premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, add an unlimited streams option for households with lots of viewers, or go ad-free on Hulu’s on-demand content (live TV will still include ads).

Overall, Hulu + Live TV is less about being the cheapest option and more about being the most comprehensive. It’s built for people who want live TV, on-demand shows, and bundled streaming services all under one roof — without having to piece everything together themselves.

Can you watch the Yankees vs. Brewers for free?

You can, in addition to the three-day free trial that Hulu + Live TV offers, three other live TV streaming services offer free viewing windows. DIRECTV STREAM has the longest standard trial in the industry at five days.

While DIRECTV’s trial is pretty straightforward, the others aren’t. When it comes to the sports-minded streamer Fubo, things can get a little complicated. As The Streamable’s expert David Satin discovered when signing up for the services, figuring out how long Fubo’s trial is — even as you are signing up — can be a bit difficult. Nonetheless, it will be at least one day, with the potential to be as many as seven, depending on a wide range of factors that Fubo does not share publicly.

The YouTube TV trial is said to be “up to two weeks,” but can be as short as two days. So it is difficult to ascertain what you are actually getting before you go through the signup process.

If you are looking to watch the game for free, I would recommend Hulu + Live TV or DIRECTV STREAM, because you know exactly how long your trial will be before signing up for those services.

How to stream the game outside of the home markets

Fortunately, since this game is a national broadcast, there is no need to worry about blackout restrictions. Everyone in the country will be able to watch this game on ESPN. However, if you are looking for a way to watch Yankees and Brewers games all season long, even though you don’t live near your team of choice, you are in luck.

Major League Baseball’s groundbreaking out-of-market streaming service MLB.TV will broadcast every game of the season that is not available on a national broadcast or cable channel like ESPN, Fox, or TBS, or streaming on Apple TV+ or Roku.

You can sign up for a monthly subscription to watch any game for $30 per month. The annual all-teams version costs $150, and an individual team season-long package runs $130.

MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on-demand and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through its Multi-view feature. MLB.TV can be added to your Sling TV or Prime Video subscription.

…

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($139.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($119.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider. As of 2025, MLB.TV does offer in-market plans for a handful of teams, including the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants.

If you want to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.
