How to watch Seattle Mariners vs. Athletics 2025 Opening Day Game

Check out all of the ways to stream your favorite baseball team’s Opening Day action.

With a background in sports and entertainment reporting, he’s covered everything from Broadway to college football. He cut the cord in 2014 and has a sharp eye for streaming trends and a soft spot for Hallmark movies.

The last game of the official 2025 MLB Opening Day will kick off at 10:10 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 27. The Seattle Mariners will welcome the itinerant [Athletics][Oakland Athletics] to get the season started. The game is airing exclusively on NBC Sports California in and around Oakland and on Root Sports Northwest in the Pacific Northwest. If you live in one of those markets and are looking for a live TV streaming service to watch this game and the whole season, I recommend Fubo. If you are a fan of the A’s or Mariners but don’t live near the clubs, the best way to watch their games is with MLB.TV.

How to watch Mariners vs. Athletics

Everything you need to know to stream Mariners vs. Athletics:

Why do we recommend Fubo to watch Opening Day?

When dealing with regional sports networks (RSNs), the right streaming service for one team’s fandom might not be right for another’s; however, in this case, that is not a problem. Whether you are in Seattle and wanting to watch the game on Root Sports Northwest, or in NoCal and wanting to watch on NBC Sports California, then your best option for streaming the game is with Fubo.

While DIRECTV STREAM also carries the RSNs and both offer free trials (more on that in a minute), but if you are looking for the best live TV streaming service to watch either Rangers or Sox games, then Fubo will cost you about $10 less per month than DIRECTV STREAM.

  • Fubo

Fubo is a live TV streaming service offering a robust lineup of approximately 150 premier channels, with plans starting at $63.99 per month. This entry-level package provides access to local broadcast affiliates 18 of the leading 35 cable channels channels, and valuable regional sports networks (RSNs).

    …

For many other sports enthusiasts, particularly those who prioritize access to local sports broadcasts, Fubo is a compelling choice in our view. Featuring FanDuel Sports RSNs in its channel lineup, Fubo stands out as the most budget-friendly option for RSN access across numerous markets, including Altitude, AT&T Sports, Fox Sports, Marquee, MSG, NBC Sports, and NESN. (Explore the comprehensive list of Fubo’s sports channels.) Fubo recently launched an add-on to their sports package, allowing subscribers access to local RSNs as well.

In September 2025, Fubo also launched its Sports package for $45.99 per month, featuring a variety of sports-oriented channels including ABC, CBS and FOX affiliates (in select markets) as well as ACC Network, Big 10 Network, CBS Sports Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, ESPNU, Fox News, FS1, FS2, Fubo Sports Network, ION, NFL Network, SEC Network and Tennis Channel.

Fubo further enriches its sports offerings by including MLB Network, NBA TV, NFL Network, NFL RedZone , NHL Network and beIN Sports (a channel not commonly found on competing services). For expanded soccer coverage, you can opt for Fox Soccer Plus via the International Sports Plus add-on for an additional $7/month.

Additionally, you have the option to enhance your channel variety with the Fubo Extra ($8), which incorporates approximately ~38 channels more channels, featuring popular selections like GSN.

Can you stream without a live TV streaming subscription?

Do the Seattle Mariners have a streaming service?

The club does have its own standalone in-market streaming service thanks to its Root Sports RSN. The Root Sports Stream platform allows fans in the home market can stream games without having to pay for a cable, satellite, or live streaming subscription. The subscription will cost $20 per month, which is a fraction of what live TV streaming services will run on a monthly basis.

Do the Athletics have a streaming service?

With all of the changes happening across the regional sports network landscape, the A’s have partnered with MLB to stream in-market games on the league’s first-of-its-kind streaming service MLB.TV. While the platform is normally for out-of-market fans, a handful of teams have begun streaming their games to fans in their home markets on the service.

Also, as of this month, fans in Northern California area can add on their NBC Sports RSN to their Peacock subscription.

Peacock

Peacock is a subscription video streaming service from NBCUniversal that includes original shows, blockbuster movies, and classic television series. Peacock is home to “Yellowstone,” “The Office,” and original hits like “Poker Face” and “Bel-Air.” You can also watch live sports and NBC programming, including the NFL, MLB, WWE, the Olympics, the Premier League, NASCAR, the French Open, college football and basketball, and the PGA Tour. Premium Plus subscribers can stream their local NBC feed in all 210 markets.

The company has acquired the rights to many classic shows, including “Parks and Recreation” and the entire Dick Wolf library, which includes “Law & Order” and “Chicago Fire.”

Peacock features weekly Sunday night NFL games during the regular season, available on the Premium and Premium Plus plans.

Peacock again raised prices on August 18, 2026, with the cost of plans increasing to $8.99 for the Select, $12.99 for Premium, and $19.99 for Premium Plus.

Can you watch Mariners vs. Athletics for free?

You can! Fortunately, Fubo offers a free trial, but it can be a little tricky to pin down the length. The sports-focused streamer can offer a free period that ranges from one to seven days, depending on a number of factors. Either way, you should be able to watch Opening Day (and hopefully a few other games) at no cost before having to pay for either service.

How to stream the game outside of the home markets?

Now, if you do not live in the home market of either team, you can still watch the game; in fact, it might be cheaper and easier that way. Major League Baseball’s groundbreaking out-of-market streaming service MLB.TV will broadcast every game of the season that is not available on a national broadcast or cable channel like ESPN, Fox, or TBS, or streaming on Apple TV+ or Roku.

You can sign up for a monthly subscription to watch any game for $30 per month. The annual all-teams version costs $150, and an individual team season-long package runs $130.

MLB.TV

MLB.TV is the official streaming service of Major League Baseball. You can see every out-of-market game live or on-demand and choose home or away TV and radio feeds. The app allows fans to watch up to four games simultaneously on the same screen through its Multi-view feature. MLB.TV can be added to your Sling TV or Prime Video subscription.

…

Users can choose to follow the entire league for “All Teams” ($139.99) plan, which is also available for “All Teams” ($29.99) a month, or you can stream one team’s out-of-market games for “Single Team” ($119.99).

One major caveat about the service: Your local games may be blacked out through MLB.TV, so you may still need to watch through your local provider. As of 2025, MLB.TV does offer in-market plans for a handful of teams, including the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants.

If you want to go beyond the games, MLB.TV provides features, documentaries, and classic games.
