Does Peacock have local and regional sports?
What you need to know about watching local sports and RSNs with a Peacock subscription.
What kind of sports coverage can you watch on Peacock? The answer may surprise you if you’ve never signed up for the service before. Peacock’s Premium and Premium Plus plans include live NFL, NBA, MLB, and college football games from the Big Ten and Notre Dame, and that’s just a short list of the service’s many live sporting events. Most on-demand streamers like Peacock don’t include local sports, however, nor do they generally provide access to regional sports networks (RSNs). But Peacock isn’t like other streamers, and we’ll run through the amount of local sports and RSN coverage available on the service below!
What you need to know about watching local sports and RSNs on Peacock
How to watch local sports with Peacock
Peacock offers customers the chance to watch any local sports appearing on their market’s NBC station. The Peacock Premium Plus plan comes with a live stream of NBC in all American markets, allowing viewers to watch any local sports on the station in their area.
Viewers who want to watch local sports airing on other channels, such as ABC, CBS, or Fox, will not find it on Peacock. A live TV streaming subscription is needed to watch all of these channels with a single subscription; learn more about such platforms below.
Does Peacock have RSN access?
Peacock does include access to NBC Sports RSNs, including NBC Sports Boston, [NBC Bay Area], NBC Sports California, and NBC Sports Philadelphia for paid subscribers. As long as you have any Peacock base plan, and as long as you live in the TV market of the NBC Sports RSN you want to watch, you can pay an additional monthly fee to stream this RSN with Peacock.
Teams available on NBC Sports RSNs include the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, and more. You won’t get all these teams with an NBC Sports add-on purchase with Peacock — only the one in your area — but Peacock’s RSN access is rare for an on-demand streamer nonetheless.
How much does it cost to watch local sports, RSNs with Peacock?
To watch local sports with Peacock, you will have to upgrade all the way to the Peacock Premium Plus plan, which includes ad-free playback with most on-demand titles, the full complement of Peacock sports, and features like downloads for offline viewing. It costs $20 per month, or $200 per year.
To stream your area’s RSN with Peacock, you’ll need any of the streamer’s base plans. Peacock Select costs $9 per month, and the Peacock Premium plan is now $13 per month. There’s an additional fee to stream NBC Sports RSNs with Peacock, and it varies from channel to channel. The prices are as follows:
- NBC Sports Bay Area: $18 per month (Giants, Warriors)
- NBC Sports California: $18 per month (Athletics, San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings)
- NBC Sports Boston: $15 per month (Celtics)
- NBC Sports Philadelphia: $25 per month (Phillies, 76ers, Flyers)
