Ted Turner passes away at 87
One of the most influential names in media was lost this week. CNN and TNT founder Ted Turner passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, at the age of 87. Turner revolutionized television news by launching the first 24-hour cable news network and has had a lasting impact on the way Americans consume media.
Working in media from the age of 24, Turner launched the first cable superstation in 1976 and followed up with the debut of CNN in 1980. For decades, Turner was one of the biggest names in media, and though his time in the spotlight was not free from controversy, there’s no denying the influence he exerted over American culture.

Big Ten disputes Duke-Michigan game on Prime Video
Last week, Prime Video made headlines with the news that it had struck a deal with Duke University to stream three neutral-site Duke men’s basketball games in the 2026-27 season. But last Friday, the Big Ten cried foul.
The Big Ten says that Duke’s collaboration with the ACC and its television partner, ESPN, to make the deal with Amazon was in error. Specifically, one of the three games in the package sent to Prime — Duke vs. Michigan — belongs to the Big Ten, or so that conference believes.
A solution for the disagreement is unclear and could eventually lead to one side or the other taking legal action if a settlement cannot be reached. Keep checking with The Streamable for more updates on the eventual fate of the Duke vs. Michigan game.
