The distributor now offers local access to almost all American-based MLB teams.
The 2026 MLB season has officially arrived. Those who sat through a parade of ads for Netflix shows to watch the New York Yankees shut out the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night already know it, but they may not know that DIRECTV has gone above and beyond to ensure access to both in- and out-of-market MLB games this season.

Ahead of the 2026 MLB season, DIRECTV announced a new distribution agreement for nine MLB teams whose games are being produced and distributed by the league. The teams include the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, and Washington Nationals.
Those teams join special MLB-operated channels for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Twins, and San Diego Padres on DIRECTV. Many of these teams were formerly partnered with Main Street Sports Group and its FanDuel Sports Network regional sports channels, but broke away from the company ahead of its coming shutdown.
In all, DIRECTV now offers in-market access to 28 of the 29 MLB teams in the United States. The sole exception is the Philadelphia Phillies; DIRECTV does not carry NBC Sports Philadelphia in any of its plans. However, the company says that even with this absence, it offers the most live baseball games of any streaming plan.
DIRECTV customers can also now add an MLB.TV subscription to their plan. Costing $30 per month or $150 per season, MLB.TV provides access to all out-of-market MLB games, and adding it to a DIRECTV subscription means that fans can keep the bills for both services in one centralized location.
Baseball lovers have options when deciding between DIRECTV plans to watch their favorite team. Regional sports networks (RSNs) are included in DIRECTV’s CHOICE and ULTIMATE packages, which offer hundreds of channels in just about every category under the sun, starting at $95 per month. Or, they can opt to stream only sports and news channels in the MySports Genre Pack for $65 per month, and add RSNs with the MyHome Team mini-pack for $20 more.
