Amazon Studios is updated a 1983 Michael Douglas movie. This round, “The Star Chamber” thriller is switching genders, per Deadline.
Now, a female appellate court judge in San Francisco decides to fix a broken legal system, recruiting her colleagues to join her. At the same time, the determined jurist juggles work-life balance demands.
The updated drama is written by Sheldon Turner (“Up in the Air”), a founder of Vendetta Productions, and Fox 21 Television Studios. Both Turner and Jennifer Klein, who front Vendetta, will executive produce.
The original movie, which starred Douglas as the judge who creates a 20th-century star chamber, also featured Hal Holbrook, Yaphet Kotto and Sharon Gless.
Douglas is currently co-starring with Alan Arkin in “The Kominsky Method” on Netflix.
Amazon Studios also announced that Christian Davin was joining the streamer as its a new global head of movie marketing.
