Quibi has released a teaser for the “The Fugitive” remake starring Emmy-winner Kiefer Sutherland (“24,” “Touch”) and Boyd Holbrook (“Logan,” “In the Shadow of the Moon”).
“The Fugitive” was originally a ’60s TV show, which was later turned into a 1993 film starring Harrison Ford. The upcoming revamp is from Nick Santora (“Scorpion”).
In all the incarnations, an innocent man is accused of a crime he did not commit. In the original TV series, it was a doctor wrongly convicted in the murder of his wife.
In Quibi’s 2020 version, it is Mike Ferro, a blue-collar worker (Holbrook), who wanted to ensure his wife and daughter were safe when a bomb exploded on a Los Angeles subway. But poor journalism and confusing evidence wrongly points to Ferro as the guilty party. He’s got to prove his innocence on the run before a top detective (Sutherland) can apprehend him.
In addition to drama, Quibi has tapped Adam Devine for a celebrity reality adventure show, “Bad Ideas With Adam Devine.” Quibi also hired model Tyler Cameron, the runner-up in “The Bachelorette” season 15, and interior designer Delia Kenza to host “Barkitecture.”
Separately, Quibi, which launches April 6, promoted itself at the Super Bowl.According to USA Today’s Ad Meter, which lets the public rank Super Bowl ads online, using a scale of 1 to 10, Quibi’s “Bank Heist” was the fourth-worst-rated out of the game’s total 62 ads, with a rating of 4.4. Ads for Disney+ and Hulu performed much better.
