Netflix is slated to have another hit within its grasp. According to Deadline, the streaming giant is in the final stages of acquiring the Amy Adams-helmed film “The Woman in the Window” from Disney-owned 20th Century Studios. The deal is currently in progress so there is no word yet on the release date.

“The Woman in the Window” is based on a bestseller novel by editor Dan Mallory whose pen name is A.J. Finn. The thriller follows Anna Fox (Adams), an agoraphobic child psychologist whose fear of going outside tears her family apart.

Things change for Anna when a new family moves into the neighborhood and she longs for a reunion with her own family. However, everything spirals when she witnesses an act of violence and can’t rely on her own perception as she also has a drug and alcohol problem.

The film also stars Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Tracy Letts (who doubled as screenwriter), Bryan Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Anthony Mackie and Wyatt Russell. The film was directed by Joe Wright and produced by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush.

“The Woman in the Window” joins other films that were originally slated for theaters but have since moved to streaming services. Tom Hanks’ “Greyhound” recently moved from Sony to Apple TV+, while the Judd Apatow-produced comedy, “The King of Staten Island,” went straight to PVOD.
