Season 2 of Amazon Hit ‘The Boys’ to Premiere in September

Fern Siegel

Amazon Prime Video announced “The Boys” season two will debut September 4. The first three episodes of the superhero series stream that day. The rest will roll out weekly until its October 9 finale.

“The Boys” creator-executive producer Eric Kripke (“Supernatural,” “Revolution”) shared the news at a virtual event hosted by Patton Oswalt, a guest star in season two. (Oswalt performed his third Netflix stand-up special “I Love Everything,” in mid-May.)

Amazon teased the upcoming “Boys” season:

“The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found.

“Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.”

The show is based on the comic-book series written by Garth Ennis and co-created-illustrated by Darick Robertson.

Kripke developed it into the Amazon series, which premiered in July 2019. He states the upcoming season will be “crazier, stranger, more intense, more emotional.”
