Crunchyroll to Allow Subscribers to Create Multiple Profiles by the End of April
The new feature is just the latest update to launch on Crunchyroll as the streamer continues to seek out new ways to boost engagement.
The anime-focused streaming service Crunchyroll is already a favorite among fans of the genre. It currently boasts 13 million paid subscribers, an impressive total for a niche streaming platform, and it will soon allow customers access to a feature they’ve been clamoring for: the ability to create multiple profiles and stream different content on them simultaneously.
- Crunchyroll will allow subscribers to create up to five individual profiles.
- Viewers will be able to pick from a list of more than 30 avatars to represent each profile.
- The new feature is coming to Crunchyroll by the end of April.
The ability to create multiple profiles with a Crunchyroll subscription is one of the streamer’s most-requested features, according to the company’s announcement of its rollout. Adding multiple profiles allows subscribers to keep their watch histories, recommendations, and watchlists segregated from other users on the account, and lets different viewers watch different content simultaneously.
Crunchyroll will provide a list of more than 30 profile avatars for customers to choose from, featuring beloved characters from top anime services. Subscribers will be allowed to create as many as five profiles for simultaneous use and make their own Crunchylists on each profile. The feature will only be available to paid Crunchyroll Premium customers.
These Crunchyroll subscribers will find the new profiles feature available before the end of April. When it does, Crunchyroll will join other top streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Max, and others that allow customers to create multiple profiles and better organize their household’s streaming histories.
How Many Simultaneous Streams Are Allowed on Crunchyroll?
The ability to set up multiple profiles means that soon, Crunchyroll fans living in the same household will be allowed to watch different content on the streamer simultaneously. To get full use out of the feature, customers will need to know which Crunchyroll plans allow for multiple content streams at the same time.
The cheapest Crunchyroll plan costs $7.99 per month, and while it allows the viewer to watch content without ads, it does not offer the ability to stream on more than one device at a time. For that, customers will need to upgrade to the Mega Fan plan at $9.99 per month. This offering includes the ability to stream on up to four devices at once and also allows the user to download titles for offline viewing.
The Ultimate Fan subscription level bumps the price to $14.99 per month, but it also increases the number of simultaneous streams allowed to six. Ultimate Fan subscribers to Crunchyroll also get an annual gift bag of merchandise from the streamer, among other perks that aren’t available to the streamer’s other customers.
Multiple profiles to keep family members’ streaming histories and watchlists separate is a highly useful function, and it’s no surprise that it was one of Crunchyroll’s most sought-after features. Crunchyroll subscribers will see the ability to create up to five profiles by the end of April.
