Didja Expands LocalBTV Streaming App to Philadelphia
LocalBTV, a free broadcast TV streaming app, is expanding its reach. Didja’s “PhillyBTV” is now available in Philadelphia, the No. 4-ranked Nielsen market.
With Philadelphia in the mix, the company says it services 17% of all U.S. households.
LocalBTV is a free, OTT service, available on computers, mobile devices and connected TV. It provides up to 42 free channels in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Phoenix. The New York and San Diego markets will be added in future.
Didja, which works with Amazon Web Services, is currently testing 100-plus channels in key cities. With or without an antenna, viewers can access local broadcast news and programs.
Jim Long, the CEO of Didja, said the company is exploring “a new, even lower-cost national system architecture and our newest feature, targeted dynamic ad insertion.”
Danny Wong, GM of Sky Link TV 4.2 (KRON-2) in San Francisco, added the station’s “Sing High” variety show draws a desired, younger demo and later airs on YouTube.
The goal of LocalBTV is to buttress local media by giving non-cable homes added TV access. The app is available in the iTunes and Google Play stores, as well as Roku, Amazon Fire-TV, Apple TV and Android-TV app stores.
