Top Streaming Story of the Week: Disney+ Rolls Out New Password-Sharing Crackdown, Profile Sharing Plans
After many months of initial rollouts and teased plans, the House of Mouse has finally put its money where its mouth is this week and officially revealed full rollout plans for Disney+ password-sharing restrictions and account sharing. Similar to Netflix's password-sharing crackdown, the streamer has been getting tougher on preventing users from using an account owned by someone outside their home. Back in April, Disney CEO Bob Iger promised the larger rollout would be coming in September, and just under the buzzer, the rollout is here.
As of Wednesday, Sept. 25, Disney+ subscribers in the U.S., Canada, and other territories will have to add an “Extra Member” profile to their account in order for anyone to use their plan outside of the account’s home. These plans will be cheaper than signing up for individual subscriptions; they will cost an extra $7 per month for Disney+ Basic subscribers and $10 for Disney+ Premium subscribers. Without the “Extra Member” add-on, customers trying to use their account away from home (or non-customers trying to use a customer’s account) will likely be met with a message saying, “This TV doesn’t seem to be part of the Disney+ household for this account,” which will require either a household location update, an “I’m Away From Home” prompt for temporary location access, or the extra profile fee.
While the extra cost may cause some current subscribers to balk, the new feature will actually be more cost-effective for new viewers after Disney+ and Disney’s other services and bundles bump up their plan costs next month. But if that’s not enough to keep you paying for new plans, there are plenty of lower-cost streaming options to keep you busy until the budget allows.

What to Stream This Weekend: ‘The Great British Baking Show’ Returns
Preheat the oven because “The Great British Baking Show” is back! Today, Friday, Sept. 27, catch the first episode of an all-new season of the beloved baking competition, which launches on Netflix under its 12th collection.
Noel Fielding and Allison Hammond are back as circus leaders under the tent as a new batch of amateur bakers from across the U.K. compete for the respect of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith (and each other). The new season kicks off with Cake Week, as the new batch of bakers face off on “a trio of tricky tests, including elevating loaf cakes, a taste-and-bake technical, and crafting lifelike sweet illusions.”

Many other reality and cooking competitions start getting stale the longer they’re on, but despite a snafu or two (Mexican Week, anyone?) “The Great British Baking Show” is as sweet and satisfying as ever.
The first episode (plus Collections 5–11) is available to stream now on Netflix with a new episode dropping every Friday.
What to Catch Up on This Weekend: ‘Inside Out 2’ Now Streaming

Disney and Pixar follow up their award-winning original with a journey into the mind of a teenage girl (having once been one, welcome and good luck!). Riley just keeps growing, and so do the breadth and depth of her emotions. As Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger continue their successful oversight, they also have to make way for new feelings, including Anxiety, Embarrassment, Envy, and Ennui.
Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black are back for the sequel with excellent new additions including “Veep” personal aide extraordinaire Tony Hale, “The Bear” Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri, “Stranger Things” breakout Maya Hawke, and more.

The sequel premiered in theaters on June 14 and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. It is now the fastest animated film to reach $1 billion globally where it is sitting at $1.69 billion worldwide. The film is holding strong on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% Tomatometer score and a 95% rating on the Popcornmeter (Rotten Tomatoes’ new audience score metric), proof that Pixar is still good at regulating its emotions.
Stream “Inside Out,” “Inside Out 2,” and the animated short “Riley’s First Date?” now exclusively on Disney+!
Inside Out 2
Teenager Riley’s mind headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.
