“Bill & Ted Face the Music” was originally slated for the big screen. But times have changed and now, the latest in the Keanu Reeves-Alex Winter franchise is headed to premium VOD and streaming.
Orion Pictures says the film will be released on demand September 1.
The latest installment of the duo’s crazy antics was slated for a late August movie release — until the pandemic upended Hollywood’s plans. (In some global as well as select U.S. markets, the film will have a theatrical release.)
This round, when the now-adult time travelers pop into their cosmic phone booth, they aren’t alone. Their daughters are along for the adventure, too.
Other straight-to-VOD movies this year have included “Trolls World Tour,” “The King of Staten Island,” “Irresistible” and “Scoob!”
The previous movies in the series were the initial hit “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” in 1989 and “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” two years later.
