Apple TV Plus’ Inspirational Docuseries ‘Dear…’ Features Oprah Winfrey, ‘Hamilton’ Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and More
Apple TV+’s new series “Dear…” debuts today.
The 10-episode documentary profiles 10 inspirational people — and their impact on the world.
They are: Oprah Winfrey, feminist-activist Gloria Steinem, “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Spike Lee, primatologist Jane Goodall, Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, Sesame Street’s Big Bird, singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder, ballet dancer Misty Copeland and actress Yara Shahidi.
The series is directed by Emmy and Peabody award-winner R.J. Cutler (“The War Room,” “A Perfect Candidate).
“Dear…” takes its lead from the “Dear Apple” ad for the Apple Watch. Users wrote CEO Tim Cook explaining how the wearable tech profoundly changed their lives.
Similarly, Cutler skillfully utilizes fan letters written to these 10 people to explore how they shaped our culture and society. The personal revelations are touching, underscoring the powerful force for good one individual can be. It is also a creative way to showcase a biography.
