Apple TV Plus Now Home to ‘Fraggle Rock,’ Orders Reboot of Show

Apple TV+ is extending its deal with Jim Henson’s “Fraggle Rock.”

The 1980s show, which focused on the adventures of the furry Fraggles who lived in magical caves, returned to the streamer in April as a new short-form series: “Fraggle Rock: Rock On!” The episodes are three-to-five minutes in length, produced by the Henson Company

Now, Apple has enlarged the alliance, which will include a bigger reboot of “Fraggle Rock” with full-length episodes, while retaining the original characters, such as Gobo, Red Boober, Mokey, Wembley and Uncle “Traveling” Matt. Plus, it grabbed exclusive streaming rights to all 96 episodes of the original 1983–1987 live-action HBO series, as well as specials. They air in 100 countries as of today, reports Vulture.

By scooping the pool, Apple can promote the platform as the home of “Fraggle Rock.”

Separately, Apple TV+ will debut the seven-episode sports docuseries “Greatness Code” on July 10, which the streamer says will “spotlight untold stories from the greatest athletes in the world.”

An array of sports figures are highlighted, such as basketball legend LeBron James, soccer star Alex Morgan, Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man, and Katie Ledecky, five-time Olympic champion swimmer, and six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady.

Apple TV+ provides original movies and TV shows for $4.99 per month. Those purchasing an Apple device earn a free year of service. The company also offers a one-week free trial.

The streamer has debuted 25 titles in its first six months.
