Disney Plus UK Reveals Titles Coming at Launch, Including ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Black Panther’ and Many More

Disney+ UK’s launch is only three weeks away and the company is making sure audiences are well aware. On Twitter today, the streaming service posted a short video revealing some of the content that will be available at launch. Titles included were “The Mandalorian” — which was a hit when it debuted in the U.S. last fall — as well as “Black Panther,” which was previously licensed to Netflix.

Earlier this week Disney signed an agreement with Comcast-owned Sky to bring the streaming service to Sky Q and Now TV in the UK and Ireland. The deal also allowed the streamer to carry “The Simpsons,” which had been entangled in some licensing complications.

According to The Verge, Disney had to sort out international rights to “The Simpsons.” Though the company had exclusive streaming rights to the show in the U.S., in the UK, Sky had a licensing deal with 21st Century Fox, allowing them to stream the studio’s content, which included “The Simpsons.” But in 2018, once Disney and 21st Century Fox sold off Sky to Comcast, those streaming rights were also transferred off to Comcast.

Just yesterday, Italy’s Telecom Italia Mobile announced it will carry Disney+ exclusively on its TIMVision platform. TIMVision already carries Netflix, Sky and the sports streamer DAZN.

Disney+ will launch in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland on March 24. Additional Western Europe markets, including Belgium, the Nordics and Portugal, will follow in summer 2020.
