True Royalty TV, a new streaming service dedicated to the British Royal family is looking to expand its reach. According to Variety, True Royalty TV is currently in a funding round with the goal of raising $12 million as it looks to go into other markets.
The service is currently available in Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the U.K. and Ireland. The money will be used on tech, marketing, and content, in part to grow service’s geographical footprint. True Royalty TV is looking to get into places such as India and China, where interest in the British Royal Family continues to grow.
True Royalty TV’s previous seed-funding rounds raised $7 million and have gained subscribers that are now in the tens of thousands,Variety reports. Since launch it has secured a distribution deal with Comcast for its Xfinity X1 platform and new third-party distribution deals are expected to be announced in the near future.
The streaming service has also moved into original programming with upcoming shows such as a one-off-doc Meghan for President? about the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and the issues she’s passionate about.
