What Do You Need to Know About ‘Severance’ Season 2?
What Happened in ‘Severance’ Season 1?
“Severance” Season 1 follows Mark Scout, an employee of the Macrodata Refinement division at Lumon Industries. Lumon has invented a technology that allows its employees to completely compartmentalize their lives; its “severance” process allows employees to remember nothing about their work lives when they’re at home and nothing about their home lives at work.
The disappearance of Mark’s coworker Petey leads to a promotion for Mark, but soon he’s contacted by someone claiming to be Petey and warning him of the company’s nefarious motives. A newly severed employee named Helly is struggling with her place in the company but keeps failing in her attempts to resign.
She attempts to hang herself but survives and returns to work. Mark is exposed to anti-establishment philosophies, and soon he and Helly begin to dig more deeply into the company. Meanwhile, the severance tech used by Lumon is seeping out further and further into society. A group of employees enact a plan that they think will allow them to wake up outside the workplace, but are stymied in the end. Helly tries to warn everyone about Lumon’s actions but to no avail.
