Disney+ has just released the trailer for an original movie — “Secret Society of Second-Born Royals” — a Gen Z action-adventure tale that streams July 17.
The premise: Sam (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is a teen royal, second in line to the throne of Illyria. Unlike her well-behaved older sister Eleanor (Ashley Liao), destined to be the future queen, Sam will rather play in her band or attend an illegal protest.
Her mother, Queen Catherine, (Elodie Yung) decides to send her rebellious daughter to a boarding school with other second-born royals. There, Sam discovers she has genetic superpowers — which are only found in second-borns of royal birth.
Soon, Sam will be called on to lead fellow recruits to inspire others to find their inner superheroes. Together, they will train to save the world.
The cast also includes Olivia Deeble, Niles Fitch, Faly Rakotohavana, Isabella Blake Thomas, Noah Lomax and Greg Bryk.
Alex Litvak (“Masters of the Universe”) and Andrew Green (“Hannah Montana”) co-wrote the movie.
Disney also began streaming “The Big Fib” last week. Based on the Gen-Z Media podcast “Pants on Fire,” it has an interesting premise: Two adults claim to be topic experts, but only one is telling the truth. Topics range from space to sports to animation. The kid contestants get to ask the experts questions, after which, they announce the liar.
