Starting this Sunday, HBO will air a controversial two-part documentary which accuses the late pop star of sexual abuse. Despite the fact that the documentary, titled Leaving Neverland, is at the center of a $100MM lawsuit by the Jackson estate, the network has said they have no plans to canceling the premiere.
HBO shared in a statement:
“Despite the desperate lengths taken to undermine the film, our plans remain unchanged. HBO will move forward with the airing of Leaving Neverland, the two-part documentary, on March 3rd and 4th. This will allow everyone the opportunity to assess the film and the claims in it for themselves.”
The documentary which original aired at the Sundance Film Festival last month, follows the story of two accusers and two families. Both has appeared in numerous photos with the pop idol including at his Neverland Ranch.
