It seems the PGA Tour may be getting a new streaming home after its stint at NBC Sports. The Associated Press reported that ESPN won the streaming rights to the entire PGA Tour and that matches will be shown on ESPN+. “Two people aware of the negotiations say ESPN has emerged as the winner of the streaming sweepstakes, which currently belongs to NBC Sports,” the AP report stated. “They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal is not finalized.”
ESPN currently has rights to weekday coverage of the PGA Championship, which will take place at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, AP reported.
The PGA has been on a streak to expand their reach. Last week, Pluto TV announced they will launch a PGA Tour channel, giving watchers round-the-clock access to golf highlights.
PGA Tour (Ch. 477) allows viewers to watch “highlights from every tournament plus player interviews, player profiles, tournament previews, swing analysis and all the greatest shots and amazing moments,” Pluto said. There will also be live Featured Hole coverage on Saturdays and Sundays for 23 events.
In addition, the PGA also entered into another agreement with Facebook that allows the social network to syndicate daily highlights on Facebook Watch, AP stated. The tour will put out daily recaps and player highlights from more than 30 events.
