Apple TV is known for having a very user-friendly interface, making it simple to navigate, install apps, and more. But removing them may not be as obvious. Whether you need to clear up storage space, get rid of an app you no longer use, or just want a cleaner looking home screen, deleting apps on an Apple TV is luckily a quick and easy process. If you have ever deleted an app on your iPhone or iPad, the process will feel rather familiar. Here is how to do it in just a few steps.

How to remove an app from Apple TV

  1. Go to the Home Screen
    Start by navigating to the home screen, where all your apps are displayed.
  2. Select the App You Want to Delete
    Use your Apple TV remote to highlight the app you want to remove.
  3. Press and Hold the Select Button
    Click and hold the select button on your remote. This is the same button you normally use to open an app.
  4. Choose the Delete Option
    After holding the button, a menu will appear with three options: Edit Home Screen, Move to…, and Delete App. Select Delete App.

  5. Confirm Your Choice
    A confirmation screen will appear. You will have the option to:
  • Delete the app entirely to remove it and all associated data.
  • Offload the app to free up storage while keeping its data intact.
  • Cancel if you change your mind.
  1. Finalize the Deletion
    If you are sure you no longer need the app, select Delete. The app will immediately disappear from your home screen.

What should you do if you delete an app by accident?

If you delete an app by mistake, there is no need to worry. You can easily reinstall it by going to the App Store and downloading it again. Once you reinstall the app, you will need to sign back in with your credentials, but after that, everything will be back to normal.

That is all there is to it. Whether you are clearing out unused apps or making room for something new, managing your Apple TV apps is as simple as a few clicks.
