About “Mammals”

Made by BBC Studios Natural History Unit and co-produced by BBC America, “Mammals” starts at the very beginning (or actually, the end of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 66 million years ago) as dinosaurs’ reign came to an end and mammals were free to move more freely around the planet.

Across six hour-long episodes and a behind-the-scenes special, Attenborough will take viewers through the strategies, behaviors, and traits behind the group’s success while celebrating “the amazing intelligence that enables mammals to learn, remember, problem-solve, parent, and cooperate.” Each episode of the docuseries, which comes more than two decades after Attenborough’s “The Life of Mammals,” will focus on a different major planetary environment, from frozen wildernesses to the depths of the jungle.

New episodes of “Mammals” will be available to watch on Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET through Aug. 17. On Aug. 24, BBC America and AMC+ will also release “The Making Of Mammals,” a behind-the-scenes episode with the production team of the series.
