The music icon reflects on his life and early days of his career ahead of his final North American concert.

Elton John looks back at his life and early career in the documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late," coming to streaming this Friday, Dec. 13.

From his hit-making, chart-topping, whirlwind touring career to his present-day collaborations and mentorships, Sir Elton John is (somehow) still standing. He’s not stopping any time soon — just this week, he was named Time’s 2024 Icon of the Year, 55 years since his debut album, “Empty Sky” — but he is taking a moment to pause and reflect with the new acclaimed documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” coming to Disney+ this Friday, Dec. 13. Preparing for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium, the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner walks viewers through the highs and lows of his remarkable career, which changed rock with every feathered and bespectacled spectacle. After a limited theatrical run in the United States and across the pond, the Disney original documentary comes to Disney+ on Friday, Dec. 13.

About ‘Elton John: Never Too Late’

Directed by R.J. Cutler (“Martha,” “Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry”) and John’s husband David Furnish, “Elton John: Never Too Late” follows the legendary music icon as he looks back on his life and the early days of his 50-year career as he prepares for his final concert in North America at Dodger Stadium during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

John will recount his early career highs and lows, paving his path and becoming one of the most successful and influential performers in history. The documentary will also integrate performance footage, excerpts from his private journals, and personal footage of his family life behind the scenes.

Once you’ve watched “Elton John: Never Too Late,” follow the yellow brick road to the actual final concert, captured in the Emmy-winning “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.”

The show goes on from there: with a subscription to Disney+, you can watch other great concert films like Queen’s historic “Rock Montreal” concert, digitally remastered for IMAX and the platform, and Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version).”

The streamer also has a wide variety of other music documentaries, such as “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All,” “The Beatles: Let It Be,” “The Beach Boys,” and the recently added “Beatles '64.”

Of course, you can also rewatch one of John’s best works, his Oscar-winning “The Lion King,” which 30 years later is still the highest-grossing traditionally animated movie of all time.
