Champion Islan Makhachev will defend his belt against No. 4 ranked contender Dustin Poirier in the main event. The night will also see a marquee middleweight match between Sean Strickland and Paulo Costa. The full event will be broadcast on ESPN+ and ESPN+ Pay-Per-View, with ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes also airing the preliminary card. About UFC 302: Makhachev vs. Poirier

Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (25-1) is on a 13-match win streak and will attempt to defend his title for the third time. This time, he is facing the fourth-ranked contender and former interim champion Dustin Poirier (30-8) in the UFC 302 main event. Makhachev is hoping to extend the UFC’s longest active win streak while Poirier is looking to secure his first undisputed UFC title.

The No. 1 ranked middleweight Sean Strickland (28-6) will face off against No. 7 Paulo Costa (14-3) in the co-main event as both fighters are looking to position themselves for title shots. Strickland is the former champ and has won three of his last four UFC outings. Nine of Costa’s 14 UFC victories have come in the first round, and he is looking to secure his third win over a former UFC champion.

Also on the card last UFC 302 will be “Dana White’s Contender Series” vet Kevin Holland (25-11) taking on Michal Oleksiejczuk (19-7), a welterweight bout between Niko Price (15-7) and Alex Morono (24-9), and welterweights Randy Brown (18-5) and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (24-7-1) opening up the main card.
