What to watch after you’ve finished ‘Brilliant Minds’ Season 1

What to watch after you’ve finished ‘Brilliant Minds’ Season 1

The acclaimed medical drama starring Zachary Quinto recently concluded its first season earlier this month.

It’s a wrap on the first season of NBC’s “Brilliant Minds,” its brainy new medical drama starring Zachary Quinto, which following a brief December hiatus recently aired its two-episode finale. Inspired by the works of Oliver Sacks, “Brilliant Minds” stars Quinto in his first main live-action TV series role since “Nosferatu” by another name, AMC’s “NOS4A2.”

The “Star Trek” star plays Dr. Oliver Wolf, an eccentric and gifted neurologist with facial blindness whose condition gives him a unique perspective on care. Alongside his brilliant team of interns at Bronx General and through unconventional methods, he takes on some of the world’s most puzzling psychological and neurological cases.

It’s still uncertain if there will be a second season of “Brilliant Minds,” but the first season of the series has been a hit for the network (plus, with the shocking Season 1 finale revelations that—spoiler alert!—that Oliver’s supposedly dead father has been under his nose the whole time, the show’s creative team seems optimistic there will be).

If you haven’t watched yet, you can watch the first episode for free right now on Peacock, as well as the full 13-episode first season. But if you’re all caught up and out of new episodes until the potential second season, check out our recommendations for what to watch next!

Alongside a team of brilliant young interns, he solves some of the world’s most puzzling psychological cases while navigating the complicated relationships that come with the job.

Loved ‘Brilliant Minds’? Watch: ‘St. Denis Medical

Medicine, actually, is the best medicine, but the doctors at “St. Denis Medical” are still trying their best to give laughter a fighting chance.

If you’re looking for a little change of pace after “Brilliant Minds,” you don’t have to go far for the recent NBC hit comedy, which premiered this past November. The sitcom, co-created by “Scrubs,” “The Office,” and “Superstore” writer Justin Spitzer, follows an eclectic group of overworked, underfunded, and yet deeply dedicated doctors and nurses (and their ambitious executive director) at an Oregon hospital as they navigate caring for patients— and each other.

Allison Tolman leads the ensemble as Alex, a devoted nurse just promoted to supervising nurse in St. Denis Medical Center’s emergency department, opposite the care team of Wendi McLendon-Covey, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, David Alan Grier, and Kaliko Kauahi.

The latest addition to the never-ending list of mockumentaries, “St. Denis Medical” is the perfect center of the Venn diagram for NBC’s workplace comedies (“The Office,” “Parks and Recreation,” “30 Rock,” “Superstore”) and medical dramas (“New Amsterdam,” “Chicago Med”). The character-driven comedy is setting itself apart with a kinder bedside manner, though, that fits in perfectly with the established network great “Abbott Elementary” (speaking of underfunded professions).

The first season of “St. Denis Medical” is currently airing on NBC every Tuesday with episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock. (Like “Brilliant Minds,” you can also stream the premiere for free right now.) And the prognosis is good: it was just renewed for a second season, so the doctors will see you now and sometime again probably later this year.
