Is ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ Streaming on Max Yet? When Will it Arrive?
You’ve never seen the Joker and Harley Quinn the way you’ll see them in ‘Folie a Deux.’
Are you ready to hear another joke? Joaquin is back as Arthur Fleck, the harlequin from hell in “Joker: Folie a Deux,” which costars Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel. The newest film set in one of several disparate D.C. Comics universes officially premieres in cinemas on Friday, Oct. 4, but when will it stream at home? Read my prediction below!
Key Details:
- Reviews for “Joker: Folie a Deux” suggest it could be as controversial as its predecessor.
- Warner Bros. Discovery is distributing the movie, which means it will end up on Max first.
- A shorter theatrical window seems a possibility at the least.

“Joker: Folie a Deux’ finds Arthur Fleck locked away in Arkham Asylum, awaiting trial for the gruesome series of murders he committed two years previously. While there he meets another inmate, Harleen Quinzel, with whom Arthur quickly falls in love. As his trial progresses the two bond, but can anyone really get close to the monster known to the media as The Joker?
The new “Joker” movie may have audiences and critics as polarized as the first one, or more so. On Rotten Tomatoes, “Joker: Folie a Deux” has a 36% critical score, and the same 36% audience score from viewers who have seen preview screenings as of the time of this writing.
When Will ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ Stream on Max?
Because “Joker: Folie a Deux” is being distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery, it’s easy to say which streaming service will get the movie first. WBD’s flagship streamer Max will assume that responsibility once the company has pulled in all the revenue it can from “Joker“‘s exclusive window on premium video-on-demand platforms like Prime Video and the Apple TV store.
How long will that take? WBD has been a bit scattershot in its release windows lately. The romantic crime thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” took 133 days to reach Max after its release. But other D.C. movies have taken less time; “Blue Beetle” took 91 days to hit Max, while “The Flash” took only 70 days.
I think “Joker: Folie a Deux” will land somewhere in the middle, and will come to Max on Friday, Dec. 27, 84 days from its initial release. That will allow Max to capitalize on viewers who have more time to watch thanks to the onset of the holiday season.
