According to exclusive documents acquired by Reuters, Amazon’s Prime Video audience has reached 26 million.
The report states that many of their leading television shows reach nearly 5 million viewers. Given that Amazon plans to spend $5B per year for original and licensed content, this finally reveals whether the strategy is paying off.
Internally Amazon has be tracking a metric called “Cost Per First Stream,” which divides the shows production and marketing costs by the number of people who stream that program first after subscribing.
Shows like “The Grand Tour” and “The Man in The High Castle” seem to be the most cost effective at acquiring new customers. The latter costing $72 million, while bringing in 8 million viewers and 1.15 million new Prime subscribers.
