Apple TV Plus to Debut Steven Spielberg’s ‘Amazing Stories’ in March, Kicks Off Spring Slate
Steven Spielberg’s remake of “Amazing Stories” for Apple TV+ will be released on March 6. The five-episode anthology series is executive produced by Spielberg and reimagines the original 1980s version.
The launch show, “The Rift,” stars Kerry Lynn Bishe, Whitney Coleman, Trisha Mashburn, Austin Stowell, Edward Burns and Juliana Canfield. The first episode is directed by Mark Mylod (“Succession,” “Game of Thrones”).
“Amazing Stories” is produced by Universal Television and Amblin Television. Spielberg is also directing the upcoming movies “West Side Story” and “Indiana Jones 5.”
In addition to “Amazing Stories,” Apple TV+’s upcoming series include the docuseries “Home,” which examines innovative homes worldwide, and debuts April 17. The family drama “Defending Jacob,” based on the 2012 best-selling novel by William Landay, premieres the first three episodes on April 24. Chris Evans, (“Fantastic Four”), Pablo Schreiber (“Wire,” “American Gods”) and Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”) star.
Coming June 5, the 10-episode docuseries “Dear…” uses personal letters to tell the bios of iconic figures that inspired them. The first season profiles include Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Spike Lee, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Aly Raisman, among others.
The streamer just announced it first British TV production, the comedy “Trying, will debut in May, Imelda Staunton (“Vera Drake,” “Harry Potter”), Rafe Spall and Esther Smith star.
Plus, it just signed Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus to an exclusive deal to produce and star in upcoming projects.
