Philo Launches Apps on Apple TV and Fire TV, Raises $40M in Funding

In addition to the newly launched platforms, the service which includes channels like AMC, A+E, MTV, Discovery, Comedy Central for just $16 a month can now be used on Roku devices, desktop and web browsers, iPhones, and Android devices via Chrome (native app coming soon), as well as more than 35 participating TVE apps.
Philo CEO Andrew McCollum shared:
“Our goal is to build a television service that people love. The expansion onto Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV is a natural extension for us and allows many new people to discover and enjoy Philo, as well as expanding the viewing options for our existing subscribers. We’re thrilled with the response we’ve seen to Philo so far, but we’re always looking for ways to make it even better, and this is another big step forward in that direction.”
The company also announced that it has raised $40 million in Series C funding from existing investors including AMC Networks, Discovery and Viacom.

The Live Tab includes a grid of all available channels and displays a thumbnails of the currently live show.
The Saved Tab includes all the shows on your DVR which groups the recordings by show.
The Search Tab makes it easy to find all live and on demand content on Philo.
