Nicole Kidman to Star, Produce ‘Pretty Things’ for Amazon
Nicole Kidman has another project with Amazon Studios. The Oscar winner (“The Hours”) will star and produce a series based on Janelle Brown’s novel “Pretty Things,” now in development for Amazon Prime Video.
Kidman’s Blossom Films is producing; Brown will adapt her novel and executive produce. The series will be directed by Reed Morano (“The Handmaid’s Tale”).
Amazon describes the plot line as “two brilliant, damaged women try to survive the greatest game of deceit and destruction they will ever play. When a reluctant grifter befriends a wealthy ‘influencer’ on the shores of Lake Tahoe, her ultimate con devolves into a raw, treacherous game of long-awaited payback.”
The TV rights were secured before the novel’s debut, which is April 21. Brown, a New York Times bestselling author, also wrote “Watch Me Disappear” and “This Is Where We Live.”
Amazon Studios previously teamed with Nicole Kidman’s production company for an original film “My Lovely Wife.” Kidman’s company already has a deal with Amazon for “The Expatriates.” Blossom Films, which specializes in female-driven projects, including HBO’s “Big Little Lies, has a first-look deal with the streamer.
Kidman has a enjoyed a celebrated career as an actress in both TV and film, including “Big Little Lies,” “Destroyer,” “Bombshell,” “Far And Away” and “The Others.”
