Max Celebrates ‘Friends’ 30th Anniversary With New Episode Collections, Featurettes

Not only will friends be there for you, but so will Max. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the iconic comedy “Friends,” the Warner Bros. Discovery streaming service is rolling out a fan-focused campaign featuring beloved episodes, in-app surprises, innovative filters, and more. So, whether you think they were on a break or not, Max is providing fans with new ways to enjoy one of the best sitcoms in television history.

“Friends” aired its pilot episode on NBC on Sept. 22, 1994, sparking what became an international phenomenon that is still going strong three decades later. As part of the celebration, Max is debuting updated 30th-anniversary “Friends” art across the app and a completely redesigned Friends collection page. In addition, Max has unveiled a selection of new handpicked episodes.

For fans who know every word of every episode of “Friends’” 10 seasons, Max is also bringing some unique behind-the-scenes, retrospective content that true fans will want to watch. The streamer is already the home of the “Friends: The Reunion” special from 2021, but is adding even more insightful titles in honor of the show’s 30th anniversary. Still need more? In partnership with State Farm and powered by Brightline, WBD has also launched an interactive “Friends” trivia quiz that will run before episodes. You will be able to use your remote to complete a series of multiple-choice questions to prove your expert-level “Friends” knowledge. This feature is only available on the Max ad-supported plan.

However, on the Max Ultimate Ad-Free plan, subscribers can now enjoy their favorite Friends episodes in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and HDR10 on supported devices. So now, you will be able to see just how difficult it is to pivot a couch in a cramped stairwell.
