Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reportedly Set to Become Next James Bond; How to Stream New 007’s Films?
While Taylor-Johnson has not yet played James Bond, he is no stranger to action movies or spy thrillers.
Daniel Craig officially turned in his license to kill following 2021’s “No Time to Die,” and in the three years since, there has been a nearly insatiable stream of rumors about who would pick up the 007 mantle. On Tuesday, all of the speculation seems to have been ended as The Sun reports that British film star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has officially been offered the role, and that the official contract is set to be signed in the next week.
Word of Taylor-Johnson’s candidacy for the role has been well-known since 2022, but he was far from the only major name in the running. Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy, and James Norton were all rumored to be in consideration at one point, but it appears that Eon Productions has found its latest spy.
“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it,” a source told The Sun. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
While this would be the first time for Taylor-Johnson to put on Bong’s well-tailored tux, he is no stranger to action movies or spy thrillers. Starting from when he was just 10 years old, Taylor-Johnson has appeared in 30 films. After a decade in the business, his big break came in 2010 when he played the title character in comic-book adaptation “Kick-Ass” and its 2013 sequel “Kick-Ass 2.” He also appeared as Pietro Maximoff, Wanda’s brother, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
He has since gone on to star in films like Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet,” the Kingsman franchise prequel “The King's Man” — which was co-written and directed by “Kick-Ass” writer and director Matthew Vaughn — and the high-octane heist drama “Bullet Train.”
Check Out Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Trailer:
Taylor-Johnson has three films set to release this year, first in May is the Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt-led stuntman action film “The Fall Guy,” then in August he will return to the world of Marvel comics as the title anti-hero in “Kraven the Hunter,” and finally on Christmas Day, he will star in “Nosferatu,” the latest remake of the German classic.
The Sun’s reports that the next Bond film — which was delayed by last year’s Hollywood strikes — is currently being written, so an announcement of Taylor-Johnson’s casting should kick off the official production process with the film finally arriving in theaters hopefully in 2025. So, how do 007 fans get acquainted with the latest superstar? Fortunately, The Streamable has assembled 10 films to give you a crash course on who will be the next actor to utter the iconic phrase, “Shaken, not stirred” on the big screen.
