Apple Offering Select Customers a Free Month of MLS Season Pass; Are You Eligible?

The 2024 MLS season is already off to the races. It’s early days yet, but in excellent news for Apple, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF is tied for the highest point total in the league. As long as Miami is relevant, Apple’s soccer streaming platform MLS Season Pass will continue to draw viewers, especially as it does not black out games in any markets. Some customers are even eligible for a 30-day free trial of MLS Season Pass to enjoy the early part of the league’s season, but there’s a pretty big catch involved.

The 2024 MLS regular season started on Feb. 21, but the domestic soccer’s league’s regular season will run through October, so you haven’t missed much if you don’t have an MLS Season Pass subscription for 2024 yet.
Apple has been notifying some customers via email that they’re eligible for a monthlong free trial of MLS Season Pass if they sign up before April 6. However, so far, this offer is only being extended to returning MLS Season Pass customers; that is, subscribers who signed up for MLS Season Pass at some point last year, but decided not to renew their subscription this year.
The offer is something of a gamble from Apple, albeit a low-stakes one. By allowing returning subscribers to access a free month of MLS Season Pass, Apple is wagering that viewers who previously had MLS Season Pass liked it, but didn’t love it enough to pay for it for a second season in a row. The tech giant is banking that a substantial number of them will want to keep the service after the one-month trial period ends — either because they remember why they liked the streamer enough to sign up for it in the first place, or they simply forget to cancel before the trial runs out.
What Can You Watch with an MLS Season Pass Subscription?
MLS Season Pass allows viewers to watch every single MLS match of the season, with no local blackouts or similar restrictions. Every MLS regular season game is featured on the platform, in addition to the 2024 Leagues Cup, the MLS All-Star Game, and the MLS Cup Playoffs. Even games that appear on national TV channels like FS1 will also stream on MLS Season Pass.
In addition to live games, the streamer also carries pre and post-game coverage of select matches. The 2024 season has also seen the return of the “MLS 360” whip-around show that offers highlights from around the league, and this year a Spanish-language version of the show is available for the first time. Customers can stream every game on MLS Season Pass in English or Spanish, and the service also offers commentary in French for games involving Canadian teams.
MLS Season Pass normally costs $14.99 per month, or $12.99 for customers who subscribe to Apple TV+ as well. The streamer now has around 2 million subscribers, and is trying to lure back former customers with an offer for a 30-day free trial as the 2024 MLS season gets underway in earnest.
