Can You Stream ‘Wish’ Now? When Will the Movie Be Available on Disney+?

When you wish upon a star, magic can happen. That’s a well-traveled theme in Disney’s movies, but it has never been more true than in “Wish,” the newest feature-length animated move from Disney which saw its official theatrical debut on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
“Wish” takes place in the kingdom of Rosas, where King Magnifico has the love of his people because of his magical ability to grant wishes. Asha wants to bring him a wish of her own, but when she realizes the king is deceiving his people, she makes a wish on a star — only to have that star descend to Earth and help her in her quest to make her family’s dreams come true!
“Wish” has a bit of an uneven Rotten Tomatoes score, and currently sits at 51%. But audiences who have seen the movie have been far kinder, as 81% who have viewed it thus far have given it their seal of approval.

Where Will ‘Wish’ Be Streaming Once it Leaves Theaters?
Families with kids know full well that packing them into the car and heading to the theater around the holidays can be a bit of an ordeal. Unfortunately for parents hoping that “Wish” is available to stream at home now, the movie is only available in cinemas at the moment.
Its status as a Disney movie essentially guarantees that “Wish” will stream on Disney+ once it’s out of theaters. Users will be able to rent or purchase it on platforms like Prime Video before it streams on Disney+, but the question of where the movie will be available to watch with a subscription is easy to answer.
When Will ‘Wish’ Be Available to Stream on Disney+?
Disney has not made an official announcement regarding the streaming date of “Wish,” but past Disney releases as well as the company’s hunt for greater revenues leave some fairly significant clues. The last animated Disney film to reach theaters was Pixar’s “Elemental,” which took 89 days to move from theaters to streaming.
The minimum amount of time agreed-upon between theater chains and streaming services calls for movies to stay in theaters for 45 days. But Disney is still uprooting couch cushions and checking old pants pockets for change as it seeks to maximize its revenues and continue to reduce streaming losses. Given that, it’s hard to imagine the Mouse House shuffling “Wish” to Disney+ before it can take full advantage of box office and digital purchase/rental revenues for the movie.
Given those facts, The Streamable predicts “Wish” will come to Disney+ on Tuesday, Feb. 20. That’s 90 days from its initial theatrical release, and would remain consistent with the company’s release schedule for its last animated feature “Elemental.”
