Fern Siegel

CBS Television Stations and CBS Interactive have launched CBSN Pittsburgh, its newest direct-to-consumer streaming news service.

CBSN Pittsburgh’s lineup includes live streams of KDKA (CBS) and WPCW (CW) newscasts, “Pittsburgh Today Live” and coverage of breaking news. On-demand viewers can also access a library of local news content.

The Western Pennsylvania streamer is the eighth service in ViacomCBS’ planned 13-market expansion.

CBSN Pittsburgh is available via CBSN, and the CBS News apps for mobile and connected TV devices. In addition, the service is available through and the CBS Local mobile app.

“KDKA is one of the finest local stations in the country and one of the crown jewels of our group,” stated Peter Dunn, president, CBS Television Stations. “Our first seven CBSN Local services are exceeding our expectations.”

In late February, the company expanded to Denver. CBSN Chicago is set to launch later this month.

More local streaming services aligned with ViacomCBS’ local stations are expected in Miami, Sacramento, Dallas-Fort Worth and Baltimore.

CBSN Local services are ad-supported, part of the live channels in CBS All Access in their markets.

Chris Cotugno, VP-GM, KDKA-WPCW, added the new platform provided the “high-quality journalism that has defined us for decades.”

ViacomCBS, the former CBS, was the first major media company to launch a local OTT news service; CBSN New York began December 2018. Other streamers include CBSN Los Angeles, CBSN Boston, CBSN San Francisco Bay Area, CBSN Minnesota and CBSN Philadelphia.
