Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment Launching New Action Sports Joint Venture with Fuel TV

The joint venture will see action sports content owned by CSSE come under Fuel TV’s branding on various platforms.

Do regular sports like football, basketball, and baseball fail to thrill you anymore? If you’re an action sports fan who needs a little more adrenaline injected into your sports viewing experience, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (CSSE) has announced a new joint venture with Fuel TV that will be right up your alley.

  • CSSE is creating new streaming channels in conjunction with Fuel TV, which operates the action sports platform Fuel TV+.
  • The deal will see current channels rebranded, in addition to the creation of new channels.
  • Content will be found on free streaming platforms like Plex, as well as subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platforms.

What Does CSSE’s New Joint Venture with Fuel TV Mean?

CSSE is teaming with Fuel TV to distribute its own action sports content more widely. Fuel TV will be responsible for operating the channels, which will feature skiing, surfing, biking, and other action sports. The venture will include the creation of new channels, as well as the rebranding of already-existing channels currently operated by CSSE like Surfnow TV and LiftTicket TV.

These channels will fall under Fuel TV branding going forward, and the venture will also launch Fuel TV Bike and Fuel TV Skate, two new channels that will feature biking and skating content, respectively. These channels will be available on free streaming platforms and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services.

“FUEL TV is the gold standard for action-sports content, and they are the perfect counterparty for us to work with on this joint venture,” CSSE chief strategy officer Elana Sofko said. “Their expertise, combined with our robust content and advertising teams, will make this a powerful offering.”

Will New Channels Be Available on Fuel TV+?

While the press release announcing the joint venture between Fuel TV and CSSE did not specify whether its new streaming channels would come to the Fuel TV+ platform, it’s logical to assume that they will be placed there in addition to other outlets. It’s also likely safe to assume that new free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels created by the venture will stream on CSSE’s platforms Crackle and Redbox.

Fuel TV+ offers thousands of hours worth of movies, TV series, and live events. It’s the perfect way for fans of skating, surfing, BMX, snow sports, mountain biking, and wakeboarding to enjoy live displays of their favorite sports and enjoy content about the lifestyle surrounding those sports. A subscription costs $4.99 per month, and streams content without ads.

“We are delighted to join this venture, uniting two of the biggest action sports libraries, and both companies’ prowess in the media industry will allow us to consolidate the leadership in the action sports space,” said Fernando Figueiredo, CEO of Fuel. “Moreover, it will give Surf, Skate, Snow, and Bike a standalone home for those core viewers that binge their sport for hours. For 20 years, FUEL TV action sports channel has gathered all these sports and will keep doing it by being the home of hundreds of hours of LIVE Events from across the globe.”
