Comcast Signs Deal With Future Today, Will Bring Three New Streaming Channels to Xfinity X1 and Flex

Comcast is adding content for their Xfinity X1 and Flex users. The company just entered a deal with OTT programmer Future Today to bring three new channels to the platforms. Future Today’s Fawesome.tv, HappyKids.tv and FilmRise joins the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Tubi, among others, and will now be available on Xfinity X1 and Flex.
Financial terms of the deal were not revealed, however, Broadcasting Cable reported that Future Today co-founder Vikrant Mathur said “the deal with Comcast was similar to deals streaming services were making with device makers, calling for some sort of revenue share or share of ad inventory.”
According Broadcasting Cable, Future Today was founded in 2006, launched its first channel back in 2011 and was one of the first 10 channels on the Roku platform. The company has since grown and is currently running 700 channels, with a reported 6.5 million monthly users. Future Today has a “library of more than 200,000 film, television and digital content assets.”
Though their channels are currently only offering on-demand streaming, the company is looking to move into linear channels within the year.
