Could MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon come to other Streaming Services?

One of the biggest holdouts on the majority of streaming services is Viacom — the parent to channels like MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, VH1, BET, LOGO, and more.

While you can get those channels on DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV, and Philo, you can’t on services like fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Playstation Vue, and YouTube TV.

As reported by FierceCable, Viacom’s CFO Wade Davis is confident that they will eventually be on other streaming services:

“We’re extremely well-represented in the traditional distributor lead virtual MVPDs, that’s Sling TV and DirecTV Now. And those are really the virtual MVPDs that matter,” Davis said. “We’d love to be on [Hulu and YouTube TV], we’re in discussions with those guys all the time and we’re optimistic that we’re going to … make progress with some of the virtual MVPDs that we’re not on.”

It is probably a matter of time before Viacom appears on all services. The bigger question is whether the services will have to raise prices above $40 in order to incorporate the channels.

For now though, if you do want to subscribe to Viacom channels, a good option is to add Philo to your existing streaming service.
