HIDIVE Rolls Out User Interface Makeover; New Features Include Ability to Download Titles

AMC’s anime streaming service is launching some bug updates for its apps on various devices.

HIDIVE is leaping into the future. The anime streaming service from AMC is launching updated apps for a wide range of devices that include a new user interface, updated features based directly on user feedback, and of course a huge variety of anime shows and movies including its popular exclusive series “Oshi no Ko” and thousands more.

  • HIDIVE now offers viewers the ability to download titles for offline viewing.
  • The user interface of HIDIVE has been updated for easier browsing and quicker discovery.
  • HIDIVE is part of AMC’s family of streamers, whose future still seems clouded.

There’s a host of new updates to the HIDIVE interface rolling out for subscribers this week. Chief among these is the ability to download titles for offline viewing. This feature is highly convenient for watchers who want to take their entertainment to a place that may not have a solid internet connection, and HIDIVE says it was one of the most highly-requested new features from subscribers.

HIDIVE will now allow customers to download shows and movies to watch offline.

The update also includes a sleek new user interface, which can now be found on the HIDIVE website and is also coming to Apple TV 4K, iPhone, Android Mobile, Android TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV. A newly upgraded search and watch history is the centerpiece of the interface, as viewers can browse by category and genre with ease as well as rediscover old favorites.

See your watch history and quickly pick out an old favorite with HIDIVE’s new update.

HIDIVE will also now allow its customers to create a near-unlimited number of customized watchlists. These lists can only be used when the viewer is online, but it’s still a great feature that allows watchers to curate their own special lineups of titles on any theme they want.

Build watchlists your way with the new update to the HIDIVE interface.

“It’s an exciting day for HIDIVE, as we rollout our new website and apps, marrying our high-quality and popular anime content with the best possible streaming experience,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “With a multitude of upgrades and new features across the service, subscribers can not only easily find and quickly watch the movies and series they want, but also download and take their favorite anime with them – whenever and wherever they want.”

What is the Future of HIDIVE?

Although the new user interface updates and features are likely to make browsing and watching HIDIVE a better experience for subscribers, the future of the streamer is still in some doubt. HIDIVE is part of the AMC family of streaming services, which at last report had 11.4 million customers spread across six distinct platforms.

It’s difficult to imagine the company continuing to offer six standalone streaming platforms in the long term, and the company has been exploring the possibility of consolidating its services since 2023. HIDIVE may continue to stand alone since its content is so distinct from other AMC streaming services, but it seems all options are on the table for now.

HIDIVE has a long way to go before it can compete with the customer base of competing anime streamer Crunchyroll. That service now has 13 million subscribers, more than the entire AMC streaming customer base. Its new user interface should attract some new customers, however; HIDIVE costs $4.99 per month for ad-free streaming, and now allows customers to download shows and movies for offline viewing.

HIDIVE

HIDIVE is an independent video streaming service for anime fans. The catalog contains 500+ niche content ranging from movies, OVAs, simulcasts, dubs, exclusives, live-action titles subbed shows, and simulcast versions broadcasted directly from Japan. There are tons of anime titles such as ‘Haikyu,’ ‘Kaiji,’ ‘Made in Abyss,’ and ‘The Promised Neverland.’

Hidive costs $4.99 per month after the 7-day free trial. If you choose the yearly plan of $47.99, you’ll save 20%. It doesn’t have a free, ad-supported tier.

There is a lot to explore with HIDIVE’s service and its many features. You can even create a private chat room for your friends to watch and chat to each other (similar to Netflix Party).
