About 2024 Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix

The 2024 Japanese Grand Prix is the fourth race of the largest championship season ever, now with a 24-race schedule. The Japanese Grand Prix takes place at the Suzuka International Racing Course – one of the oldest and most iconic tracks on the schedule - with 53 laps around the 5.807-kilometer course for a total race distance of 307.471 kilometers. Built in 1962, Soichiro Honda (yes, of Honda) had huge ambitions, drafting Dutchman John Hugenholtz to design the ‘crossover’ Suzuka track. This high-speed circuit is a massive challenge for drivers, who have to navigate snaking ‘S’ Curves, Degners, along with the super-intense 130R. Suzuka is the only figure-eight style course in F1 and is a favorite among drives and fans alike. When it comes to F1 standings, Max Verstappen (51 points) still sits atop the board despite the set-up back in Australia, with Charles Leclerc (47 points) in second, and Sergio Perez (46 points) in third.
