It’s the first weekend in May, so that means that the most exciting two minutes in sports will happen at Churchill Downs this weekend with the running of the 150th Kentucky Derby. The first race of the 2024 Triple Crown will take place on Saturday, May 4 with coverage starting on the USA Network and Peacock at 12 noon ET with the broadcast moving to NBC at 2:30 p.m. The gate is scheduled to drop on the marquee race of the day at 6:57 p.m. You can watch with a 3-Day Free Trial of Hulu Live TV.

On Saturday, 20 3-year-old horses will take to the iconic dirt track of Churchill Downs. The morning-line favorite is Fierceness at 5-2. The horse already has wins at the 2024 Florida Derby and the 2023 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The field also features such contenders as the 2024 Blue Grass Stakes winner Sierra Leone (3-1), this year’s UAE Derby winner Forever Young (10-1), the 2024 Louisiana Derby (G2) winner Catching Freedom (8-1), and the 2024 Blue Grass Stakes runner-up Just a Touch (10-1).

NBC Sports’ coverage will be anchored by Mike Tirico who will be joined by analysts two-time Derby-winning jockey Jerry Bailey and Randy Moss, covering the Derby for the 44th time. Also joining the all-day coverage will be host Ahmed Fareed along with handicappers Eddie Olczyk and Matt Bernier and reporters Britney Eurton, Donna Brothers, Kenny Rice, and Nick Luck.

NBC’s race-caller Larry Collmus will also return for the 15 races on NBCU’s airwaves, starting on Friday with the Kentucky Oaks. Rebecca Lowe is set to dive into the history and pageantry surrounding the “Run for the Roses.” Steve Kornacki returns to NBC’s Derby coverage for the fourth year. And NBC News’ Dylan Dreye and [E! ]News correspondent Zanna Roberts Rassi will serve as fashion and lifestyle correspondents.
