It has been an eventual offseason for the Ohio State Buckeye football team. After losing their final two games of the 2023 campaign, head coach Ryan Day revamped the coaching staff, brought in some big-name transfers, and kept nearly the entirety of one of the best defenses in the country. On Saturday, April 13, Buckeye Nation will finally get their first look at the reconfigured squad as they take the first step towards getting back atop the Big Ten mountain. The Ohio State spring football game will air at 12 noon ET and will be the first spring game to ever be aired nationally on a broadcast network. About 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes Football Spring Game

Kansas State transfer Will Howard, returning third-year player Devin Brown, redshirt freshman Lincoln Kienholz, and true freshmen Air Nolan and Julian Sayin (who transferred from Alabama) will reportedly all get work in leading the Ohio State offense during Saturday’s spring game. They will be backed up by arguably the best running back duo in college football, returner TreVeyon Henderson and Ole Miss transfer Quinshon Judkins.

On the other side of the ball, nearly all of the Buckeyes’ best defenders are back as Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau, Tyleik Williams, Ty Hamilton, Lathan Ransom, Denzel Burke, Sonny Styles, Davison Igbinosun, Jordan Hancock, and more are back from a defense that finished 2023 as the No. 2 scoring defense and No. 3 total defense in the country. The efforts on that side of the ball will only be enhanced with he addition of all-world safety Caleb Downs who joined OSU’s secondary after transferring from Alabama.

Fox is making history with the Buckeyes’ broadcast as Saturday’s scrimmage will be the first college football spring game to ever air on a broadcast network. Archrival (and defending national champion) Michigan will be the second on the following Saturday.
