How to Watch ‘A Christmas Story’ 24-Hour Marathon Live on Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku & Mobile
The holidays are full of traditions, from families trimming the tree together to leaving cookies and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer, but only one Christmas tradition will remind you of the dangers of putting your tongue on a cold, metal pole. Starting on Sunday, Dec. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on both TBS and TNT, your family can gather around the TV to watch the holiday classic “A Christmas Story” for 24 straight hours. So, before, during, and after all of your other family traditions, you can pine for an official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle. The Streamable recommends that you watch the 1983 classic with a subscription to Sling TV in part because currently, you can get your first month of service for 50% off. If that’s not a major award, I don’t know what is! You can watch with a subscription to Sling TV.
About 'A Christmas Story' 24-Hour Marathon
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, “A Christmas Story” has become an unusual holiday favorite. While most other Christmas movies play on the season’s sentimentality, this movie takes a darker, more cynical look at childhood and the holidays. Set in the 1940s, “A Christmas Story” chronicles the comic mishaps and adventures of a young boy named Ralph, trying to convince his parents, teachers, and Santa to get him the Christmas present of his dreams.
All Raphie wants is an official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle for Christmas, but his parents — and everyone else — are rightly concerned that he will shoot his eye out. The movie features a series of vignettes that are more
misanthropic than saccharine, many focusing on Ralph’s father, “The Old Man,” and his battles with a malfunctioning furnace, his receipt of a now-iconic “major award,” or changing a blown tire.
While “A Christmas Story” might not have the same, feel-good nature as many other holiday favorites, the nostalgic look at a less-than-perfect childhood reminds many of all of the ups and downs that come with being a kid around Christmas.
