About 'Argylle'
Elly Conway is the reclusive cat-loving author of a series of bestselling espionage novels about the impossibly glamorous secret agent Argylle, and his mission to unravel a nefarious spy syndicate. When Elly, with the help of feline-hating real-life spy Aidan, discovers that her story mirrors the actions of an actual spy organization, a dangerous game of cat and mouse results.
In order to stay one step ahead of the syndicate’s assassins (and also prevent a global crisis), these two unlikely conspirators, accompanied by Alfie the cat, find themselves in an adventure story of their own.
Here’s what makes this movie so intriguing. In the film, Conway is working on her fifth Agent Argylle book, but just weeks before the movie came out, the first book in the series was released in real life. But Conway is just a character in a movie, so who really wrote the novel? For a number of very online reasons, people became convinced that Taylor Swift wrote the book. However, it turns out that it was actually written by veteran authors Terry Hayes and Tammy Cohen.
