About 'Beyond the Aggressives: 25 Years Later'
Directed by Daniel Peddle, the groundbreaking original 2005 documentary “The Aggressives” followed the lives of six subjects over the course of about five years as they discussed their experiences with gender, sexuality, race, and class as queer, transmasculine people of color.
Now, Peddle returns with the continuation will catch up with Kisha, Trevon, Octavio, and Chin and everything that has transpired in their lives since the first film was made, “including pursuing dreams in the arts, surviving the experience of being held in ICE detention, reuniting with estranged children, deciding whether to start families of their own, and seeking gender-affirming healthcare.”
“Beyond the Aggressives: 25 Years Later” received a nomination for Outstanding Documentary Feature at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards. In tandem with the film’s SHOWTIME and streaming premiere and with International Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, SHOWTIME will also be collaborating with several organizations, including GLAAD, GLSEN, and Trans Equity Consulting, to launch an impact campaign “to expand conversations about identity, visibility, and a reimagined future for trans and gender non-conforming people.”
