When two of the winningest coaches ever in college basketball sit down to talk about the game, it’s time to listen. Each one brings with them a unique and incredible resume. First, Coach K – the former head coach of the Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball team with a tenure spanning over 40 years. From 1980 to 2022, he led his team to five national championships, 13 Final Four appearances, 15 ACC tournament wins, and 13 ACC regular season titles. Oh, he’s also collected six gold medals as Head Coach of the US Men’s National Team and holds the all-time win record for Division I men’s basketball coaches with 1,202.

The coach across from him boasts his own Hall of Fame career. Roy Williams coached the men’s basketball team North Carolina Tar Heels for 18 years and the Kansas Jayhawks for 15 years, racking up 903 wins over 33 seasons and three national titles. He is also the only coach to win 400 games at two different schools. Williams was named the Coach of the Decade by ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting News and Fox Sports for the 10 years from 2000-09, where he won two national titles, going to the Final Four five times.

This conversation, complete with game highlights, photos, and coaching clips, is something these two men never did during their rivalry. It was recorded in July of 2023 at the Greensboro Coliseum, where a small, intimate audience made up of North Carolina Coaches Association members heard these two greats as never before: in conversation with each other about their careers in basketball.
