Harry Potter has long held the title of “The Boy Who Lived.” However, there’s an inspiring true story of someone else who has earned that title. David Holmes was cast as Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double in the “Harry Potter” films but suffered a tragic accident. Now, he’s telling his story in “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived.” The documentary premieres on Max on Wednesday, Nov. 15. You can watch with a subscription to Max.
About ‘David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived’
Daniel Radcliffe is the executive producer of “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived.” In the new documentary, he sits down with his stunt double, who has lived a life of many highs and several tragic lows. At 11 years old, David was cast as Daniel’s stunt double and continued to appear in the films for the next decade. David and Daniel grew up alongside each other in the “Harry Potter” films and today, they are still close friends.
In a devastating on-set accident as the series neared its end, David suffered a debilitating spinal injury and was paralyzed. Amid this scary time, he was uplifted by his co-stars and fellow stunt doubles. Though this tragic accident could have dulled his spirits, David has been resilient and continues pushing forward.
In “David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived,” fans will hear from David himself, Daniel, and many friends and family members. Several crew members will also share their sides of the story and recognize David’s strength. Look forward to special footage from behind the scenes of the movies as well as family videos.
