“The Parent Trap” meets “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” with “Dicks: The Musical,” A24’s first forray into movie musicals. Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson star in the adaptation of their Off-Broadway show as two womanizing, misogynistic business salesmen who, when their companies merge, find out they are long-lost identical twins. The pair, then, hatch a plan to swap lives and get their parents back together, a task that proves much harder (and weirder) than they thought. Also starring Nathan Lane, Megan Mullaly, Megan Thee Stallion, and Bowen Yang, “Dicks: The Musical” will make its streaming debut on Friday, Feb. 2 on Max. You can watch with a subscription to Max.
About 'Dicks: The Musical'
A24 gets into the musical business with this R-rated take on “The Parent Trap,” based on the off-Broadway musical “Fucking Identical Twins” by and starring Josh Sharp and Aaron Jackson.
Sharp and Jackson reprise their roles as Craig and Trevor, two womanizing business salesmen and identical twins separated at birth. When their respective companies undergo, they finally meet and hatch a plan to get their parents back together to have a “real” family, swapping lives to visit their other parent: Craig with Evelyn (Megan Mullaly), their eccentric shut-in mother whose vagina had fallen off and died, and Trevor with Harrison (Nathan Lane), their newly out gay father (who also casually keeps two humanoid genetic mutants called “sewer boys” in a cage in his home).
The cast also stars Bowen Yang, Megan Thee Stallion, Tom Kenny, Frank Todaro, Sonya Eddy, Danielle Perez, Nick Offerman, and D’Arcy Carden.
